Working out of Sp-101 in the Ambattur Industrial Estate is definitely different than being in a city office. It’s at the 2nd Main Road and you can always hear the hum of machines from the neighbors. Heritage Foods has this spot here to keep things running for the local distribution. It’s a big space because we need the room for all the movement. The morning is usually the craziest time when the crates are moving and everyone is trying to get on the road. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure the trucks are loaded right. It’s not a very quiet place, but you get used to the noise after a few days. The air in Ambattur always smells like industry, a mix of grease and exhaust, but that’s the sound of people working. Our office part is tucked away in the corner of the unit. It’s got some old chairs and a big calendar on the wall that we use to track everything. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we have a backup to keep things going. We don’t have fancy coffee machines, just a kettle and some sugar in the cupboard. It’s a practical setup for the type of work we do. We’ve been at this address for quite some time, and it feels like home now. The workers here are mostly locals who know the shortcuts around the estate and the best spots for a quick meal.
