Arun Ice Cream Ennore/Jansi Agency

Out here in Ennore, things move a little differently than in the main city. We run Jansi Agency at 706 K H Road, mostly focusing on getting ice cream out to the people in this neighborhood. It’s an industrial area, so it gets very dusty and the sun feels a bit stronger. People working nearby or living in the local quarters stop by quite a bit. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a solid place with a few good freezers and a reliable power backup. We have to be careful about the electricity because of where we are. Dealing with the stock takes up most of my morning. I have to check what came in and what needs to go out. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. Sometimes the salt air from the coast makes things rust a bit faster, so we spend time cleaning the shutters and the outside area. We know most of our customers by name since Ennore feels like a small town even though it’s part of Chennai. A lot of kids come by after school, and we have to keep an eye on them so they don't block the doorway. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the trucks are unloading. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us making sure things run right every day. We’ve been at this spot on K H Road for a while and we just keep at it, through the heat and the quiet times.
