If you’re driving down Avadi Road in Kannikapuram, you’ll see L G Milk Products. It’s a place that starts moving way before most people are even out of bed. The early hours are the loudest, with the sound of metal and plastic clinking as the crates are moved around. The air is always a bit damp and smells like cold milk and cleaning water. We don’t have a fancy storefront or anything like that. It’s all very practical—pipes, tanks, and a lot of tiled surfaces that we scrub down constantly. The staff here wears heavy boots because the floor stays wet most of the day. We’ve got a small area where we handle the paperwork, usually huddled around a small table with a light that flickers a little. People stop by in their vans and tempos, and there’s always a bit of a rush to get them loaded and back on the road. Kannikapuram gets quite dusty, but we try our best to keep our little corner clean and tidy. It’s a straightforward kind of job. We don’t spend time on big speeches or marketing. We just focus on the containers and the clocks. By midday, when the sun is high over Avadi Road, the worst of the rush is over and we can finally take a breath. It’s a routine we’ve stuck to for a long time, and it seems to work for us.
