Golden Tower

Golden Tower is located right on the Evr Periyar High Road, which is one of those streets in Chennai that never really seems to sleep. We are in the Park Town area at No 78, so there are always people walking by, heading to the station or coming from the hospital nearby. It’s a busy spot, and the building itself has seen a lot of years go by. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the maintenance because the salt air and the city dust really do a number on things. Inside, it’s mostly just people coming and going for their own reasons. We don’t try to make it seem like something it isn't. It’s a practical place to be if you need to be near the center of everything in Chennai. The noise from the buses and the horns on High Road is constant, so you kind of just get used to it after a few days of working here. We have our regulars who come in and we know them by name, which is nice in such a big city. It’s a lot of checking doors, answering questions about directions, and making sure the lights are working. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We just keep the place running as best as we can, day in and day out, without making a big fuss about it. It’s just part of the local landscape here now.
