Ganesh Bhavan

Ganesh Bhavan is right on T H Road in Washermanpet. We are directly opposite Chelladurai Nadar & Sons, so we are pretty easy to find if you know the area. Chennai can be a very busy place, and this part of town is no exception. We open the doors early to catch the people heading to work in the morning. The stove is almost never cold during the day. We make simple food. We aren't a big chain with a lot of corporate rules. We just do things the way we've always done them. The kitchen can get quite hot in the afternoons, but we’re used to it. We don't have a lot of staff, so everyone chips in with the cleaning and the serving. It’s a bit of a squeeze when the lunch crowd comes in, but people don't seem to mind sharing tables with strangers. We don't do any advertising at all. Most of our customers are locals who live or work within a few blocks of the shop. They come here because they know what they are going to get. We keep the stainless steel plates shining and the floors swept as much as we can. It’s a simple operation. If you want a bite without any drama or fuss, this is where we are. We've seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but our little corner on T H Road stays mostly the same through everything.
