Chennai Public School

Our school is located right at the Round Building on TVS Avenue Main Road in Anna Nagar West. It is a landmark people often use for directions in this part of Chennai, so it’s easy to find. The area is quite busy, with shops and houses all packed together tightly. We have a fairly large building, but the playground space is always a bit of a squeeze when all the students are out at once. During the summer, the heat in Chennai can be quite tough to deal with, so we rely on the fans and the few trees we have in the courtyard to keep things tolerable. The mornings are usually the most hectic time, with yellow buses and parents on scooters dropping off children in a hurry. You can hear the school bell ringing across the neighborhood throughout the day. The interiors are simple, with rows of desks and blackboards that have seen many years of use. We have a small office near the entrance where we handle all the paperwork and talk to parents about various things. Most of the staff live nearby, so there is a real sense of being part of the Anna Nagar community. We don't go in for anything too flashy; we just focus on the daily routine of classes and activities. It’s a noisy, lively place that feels very much like the heart of the local area. There is always someone walking through the halls or talking in the yard after school.
