Cafe Green Restaurant

Pudupet is a crowded part of Chennai, and Harris Road is always full of people looking for spare parts or getting their bikes fixed. We are at number 36, right on Adithanar Salai. Cafe Green Restaurant has been part of this street for a while. It’s a noisy area, but it has a lot of life to it. We start the day by cleaning the front area because the city dust settles on everything overnight. The kitchen gets busy pretty fast. We serve a lot of people who work in the shops nearby. They don't have much time, so they want something quick and hot. The fans on the ceiling hum all day long to keep the air moving. It’s not a quiet place to sit, but it’s a real one. You hear the horns honking outside and the sound of people bargaining on the street. We’ve got a small staff and we all do a bit of everything, from taking orders to cleaning the tables. The floor is tiled and we spend a lot of time mopping it. We don't have any fancy signs or lights. It’s just the name on the front and the smell of food coming out the door. People know where we are. We just keep our heads down and keep the stove going until the sun goes down. It’s just a standard local restaurant in a busy part of town.
