Bombay Halwa House

You can find us at Windsor Palace on Balfour Road, right next to the HDFC Bank in Kellys. We’ve been running this halwa house for some time now. We have two shops here, F3 and F6, tucked into the building. It's a busy corner of Chennai and there's always something happening outside on the street. We make a lot of traditional sweets and snacks. The halwa is obviously the main thing, and we spend a lot of hours getting the texture right. It’s a lot of stirring and watching the heat. We don't use machines for everything because some things just taste better when you do it by hand. The shop isn't very large, but we pack it full of whatever we’ve made fresh that morning. Kellys is a good area, lots of people walking by going to the bank or the other shops nearby. We see a lot of regulars who come in every week for their favorites. It gets a bit crowded inside during festival times, but we try to move the line along as best as we can. We aren't a big chain, just a local business trying to make things that people enjoy eating. Our staff has been with us for a while, so they know how we like things done. We just keep the doors open and hope the sweets turn out well every day. It’s a simple business but it’s ours.
