Our kitchen is tucked away in Kodambakkam on 1st Cross Street in Trustpuram. The address is a bit confusing because it has a new number 2 and an old number 38, but most people who live around here know where we are. We focus on cooking food that tastes like what you’d get at home. It’s not a large restaurant with a big dining hall. It feels more like a small family space. We started Bhimas Kitchen because we liked cooking and wanted to share that with the people in the neighborhood. Chennai can get very hot, so we try to keep the kitchen well-ventilated, though it's still a struggle sometimes. We buy our vegetables from the local market every morning. Nothing is pre-packaged or fancy. We just use what is available and fresh. The menu doesn't change much because we like to stick to what we know how to make well. Sometimes we run out of items before the day ends, especially the lunch meals. We don't really have a big marketing plan. We just put a sign out front and let the food do the talking. People stop by on their way home from work or order for their families. It’s a quiet street compared to the main roads, which is nice. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the neighborhood change, but our kitchen stays pretty much the same. It is just us cooking and serving. We hope the food is good enough for everyone.
