Archana Sweets & Restaurants

You can find us over at the Vummidi Shopping Complex on Anna Salai. It’s an old spot, New No 120, right across from the big LIC building on Mount Road. Being in this part of Chennai means there is always noise from the traffic and the metro construction nearby. We have the sweet shop side and the restaurant side. The glass counters are filled with different items every morning. Some people just pop in to grab a box of something to take home, while others sit down for a full meal. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned space, with the high ceilings and the way the light comes in from the street. We’ve seen the city change a lot from this window. The staff wears their uniforms, but they’re usually a bit wrinkled by the end of a long shift. We don’t have any big signs or loud music playing. It’s mostly just the sound of the ceiling fans and people talking. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when the office crowd comes out for lunch at the same time. We just try to keep up with the orders and make sure the floors stay clean. It’s a lot of work running a place on Mount Road because it never really sleeps. We just keep doing what we do every day, stocking the shelves and waiting for the next person to walk through the door.
