Zee Guest House And Restaurant

Down here in Dasasumedh, things are always moving fast. We’re tucked away at D 17/149 in Varanasi. Our place is both a guest house and a restaurant, so we see all kinds of people. Some stay for a few days to see the sights, and others just come in for a quick meal. We’ve been running this for a while. It’s an old building, but it has character and we try to keep it as tidy as we can. Living and working in Varanasi means you get used to the noise and the crowds. Our restaurant part is simple. We cook what we know and serve it without much fuss. If you’re staying upstairs, it’s a short walk to the river. We don't have fancy lobbies or uniformed staff. It’s just us and a few helpers making sure the rooms are ready and the kitchen is stocked. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they’re wandering through the lanes. It’s a busy life, but we like being here. Sometimes the power goes out or the street gets blocked, but that’s just life in this city. We don't try to be anything we’re not. We just provide a bed and some food. The rooms are basic but they do the job for someone who just needs a place to sleep. We try to keep the water running and the fans going. We spend time talking to the guests about their travels. You meet people from all over. We've been in this building for so long that we know every creak in the floorboards. We just keep things moving.
