A. V. R. Restaurant

Our kitchen at A. V. R. Restaurant stays pretty busy most days here in Varanasi. We are tucked away on Ramkatora Natiemali Road. It’s not a quiet area, but we like it that way. Being in Ramkatota means we see all sorts of people walking by every afternoon. We started this place because we wanted to cook for the neighborhood. There isn't a team of experts, just us making food like we do at home. The tables are simple and we don't have fancy decorations on the walls. It can get a bit loud when the lunch rush starts, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. 221001 is where we belong. We try to keep the ingredients fresh and the pots going from early morning. Sometimes the floor is a bit worn out, but we keep it clean. You won't find a glossy menu here. We just tell you what we've cooked for the day. It’s hard work standing over the stove, especially when it gets hot outside, but it’s what we know how to do. Some folks have been coming to see us for years now. We know their names and what they usually order. It’s just a local eatery on the road. Nothing more, nothing less. If you find yourself near Ramkatota, you’ll likely smell the cooking before you see the sign. We’re just regular people serving food to whoever is hungry.
