Baba Open House

Baba Open House is located at B15/27 on Sonarpura Road in Varanasi. We are very close to the Kedar main gate, which is a big landmark around here. Varanasi is a crowded city, and our street is no different. It’s narrow and full of life. We started this place as a simple spot for people to gather. It’s called Open House because we wanted it to feel like someone’s home, though it’s a bit rough around the edges. We have some seating inside, but it's not a large space. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend most of our money on the kitchen supplies. We see a lot of pilgrims and travelers who are visiting the temples nearby. They come in tired and hungry, and we just give them a place to sit and eat. It’s not a fancy restaurant with waiters in uniforms. We just wear our regular clothes and get to work. Sometimes the electricity goes out, which is common in this part of town, so we keep some candles ready. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just open the doors and wait for people to come in. Being near the Kedar gate means we meet people from all over. It’s an interesting way to spend the day, even if it’s exhausting. We just try to keep things moving as best as we can.
