The Sunflower Caf

The Sunflower Caf is situated over in the Cantonment area of Varanasi, inside the same complex as the Radisson on The Mall. It’s a pretty well-known part of town, quite different from the narrow lanes near the ghats. Being on The Mall means things are a bit more orderly outside our door. We’ve been here for some time, and we try to keep the place looking presentable, though we aren't trying to be overly fancy. It’s just a cafe where we spend our hours making sure everything is in its place. The sunlight comes in through the windows in the morning, which is where we probably got the name from, though I don't really remember who decided on it. We don't have a big mission or anything; we just wanted to have a spot where people could sit down for a bit. We spend a lot of our time checking the inventory and making sure the tables are wiped down properly. The staff here are just regular people from the neighborhood. We talk about our families and the local news while we work. Sometimes it gets busy when there are events nearby, but mostly it’s just a steady flow of people. We aren't interested in being the most famous place in Varanasi, 221002. We just want to keep the doors open and do a decent job for whoever walks in from the street and needs a break.
