Saffron Veg Restaurant

We are located right in the middle of Godowlia in Varanasi. If you know the Girjaghar area, we are just near the petrol pump there. Varanasi is a very busy place, especially this part. There are always people walking by, rickshaws honking, and the general noise of the city. Our restaurant is strictly vegetarian. We don't serve anything else. The kitchen is small but we make it work. Every morning we get the fresh vegetables from the market nearby. It’s a lot of chopping and prepping before the first customer walks in. We have simple wooden tables and chairs. Nothing too comfortable, just practical. The walls have a few pictures but we haven't painted them in a year or so. We don't have a big manager in a suit. I’m usually around the cash counter or helping in the back. Sometimes when the festivals are on, the street outside is so packed you can hardly move. We stay open late those days. The fans run all day to keep the air moving. It gets dusty because of the road, so we are always wiping things down. We serve tea in glasses, the way people like it here. It’s a local spot. People come in after visiting the temples. We just do our job and go home. That is what Saffron Veg Restaurant is about. Just a simple place for a meal.
