Our place is right in the middle of the chaos that is Godowlia in Varanasi. We are specifically in the Godhulia Market area, on Dalmandi Road. If you’ve ever been to Varanasi, you know how narrow and crowded these lanes can get. There are cows, rickshaws, and thousands of people moving around all the time. It is a very old part of the city, and we have been here at this main road spot for quite a while. We spend most of our time just trying to keep up with the flow of people coming in from the market. The kitchen is small and it gets very hot, but we manage to put out a lot of food every day. We don't have a lot of space for anything fancy, so we just focus on the basics. Many of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for years, and we also get pilgrims who are just passing through the Godowlia area. We have to deal with the occasional power cut or the water supply being a bit slow, but that’s just life in an old city like this. We don't make a big deal out of anything. We just open up the shutters in the morning, get the tea going, and start cooking. It’s a loud, busy, and imperfect place, but it is our life and we wouldn't have it any other way. We just try to keep everything moving.
