Pizaa Hut Restaurant

Pizaa Hut Restaurant is located at B-4/30, Hanuman Ghat. We are very close to the Hanuman Mandir here in Varanasi. You can hear the temple bells from our doorway. It is a very old part of the city, with narrow lanes and lots of history. Our shop is small. We have a simple oven and some counter space. I spend my days making the dough and waiting for the oven to get to the right temperature. It gets very hot in here during the summer months. 221001 is a busy pin code with lots of tourists and locals walking to the river. We get a mix of people. Some are pilgrims and some are just kids from the neighborhood. We do not have any fancy signs or big lights. Just the name on the front. I usually sit on a stool near the entrance when it is quiet. The floor is made of stone and stays relatively cool compared to the street outside. Varanasi is a spiritual place, but for us, it is also about the daily grind of making food. We do not use any frozen stuff if we can help it. Everything is done by hand. It is not a perfect operation, but we do our best with what we have. People seem to appreciate that we are right here by the mandir. We just keep the fire going and wait for the next person to walk in.
