You can find the Banaras Silk Manufacturing Co. at 6, Gandhi Nagar in the Sigra area. We've been operating out of this spot for quite some time now. Sigra is a pretty active part of town, so there is always something going on outside our windows. We focus on silk, obviously. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a solid place where we get our work done. Inside, there’s usually a faint smell of silk and dye. We spend a lot of our time coordinating with weavers and making sure the patterns are coming out the way they should. It’s a lot of back-and-forth communication. Sometimes the machines are loud, and other times it is just the sound of pens scratching on paper. We still keep a lot of physical records in big ledgers. It feels more reliable that way. Our staff is a small group. We’ve all worked together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to know what needs doing. We aren't into big marketing pushes or fancy websites. We just rely on the work itself to keep us going. If you’re near Gandhi Nagar, you can’t miss us. We are just a local company doing what we know how to do. It’s honest work and it keeps our families fed. We stay busy from Monday to Saturday and usually close up early on the weekends.
