Pratibha Public School

Jodhpur is a beautiful city but it gets incredibly hot during the day. Our school, Pratibha Public School, is right in the middle of it. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations on the outside. It is just a sturdy building that does its job. Every morning the kids arrive, some walking and some in those small rickshaws that navigate the Jodhpur streets. You can hear the morning assembly from a few blocks away if the wind is right. We have a lot of local teachers who have been with us for a long time. They know the families and they know which kids are likely to skip their homework. It is a very hands-on kind of place. We spend a lot of time on the basics, reading, writing, and making sure the math is correct. The playground is where most of the action happens during the break. You see kids playing with balls or just sitting in the shade of the building to escape the sun. We have some fans in every room, though in June even those don't do much. It is a practical environment. We don't promise anything grand, we just try to get the children through their grades so they can move on to high school with some solid knowledge. It is a lot of routine, day in and day out, but that is how a school should be if you want results.
