Bristows Bistro

We are down here by the Old Lighthouse Bristow Hotel right on Old Beach Road. It is a quiet corner of Kochi Fort, just a short walk from where INS Dronacharya is. The bistro isn't fancy, but we have the ocean breeze coming in all day. Most people find us because they are walking along the shore or they live nearby in Ernakulam. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy and making sure there is enough coffee. It gets a bit salty with the sea air, so there is always something to paint or fix. We have been here a while now. The building has some history to it since it is part of the old lighthouse grounds. Sometimes it gets busy when tourists come through the fort, but mostly it is just a regular spot for a meal. We don't do anything too complicated. The kitchen staff stays busy with the usual orders. You can see the ships going by if you sit in the right spot. It’s just how things are around here. We open early enough for the morning walkers and stay open until the evening settles in. It is not a big operation, just a few of us making sure the food is ready when people are hungry. If you are looking for the place, just head toward the beach and look for the lighthouse area. It is a simple life by the water.
