Balos Restaurant

Balos Restaurant is at No.618, Padath House, in the Kaloor area of Ernakulam. Our place is right opposite the Seventh Day School. Ernakulam 682017 is where we are based. The restaurant is inside an old house that we fixed up a bit to make it work for a kitchen. It’s not very big and it can get quite warm inside when we are busy. We have a few ceiling fans that we keep on high. Most of our customers come from the nearby school or the shops on the main road. I spend most of my day in the kitchen and my brother handles the customers. We get our fish from the harbor every morning, so the menu depends on what the catch was. Sometimes we don't have everything on the list. We have wooden chairs and tables that we painted ourselves. They are a bit scuffed up now. The floor is made of old tiles that have some cracks. It’s just a neighborhood spot where people can get a quick meal. We don't have any fancy lighting or decorations. Just some simple white lights. We don't use any social media or do any marketing. People just know we are here. Sometimes the street gets flooded when it rains heavily, and we have to put out sandbags. It’s just part of living in this part of town. We keep things basic and honest for the people who eat here. We are just a local spot in Kaloor.
