BIRIYANI JOINT

You can find BIRIYANI JOINT right on Civil Line Road, near PT Temple Road in Chembumukku. We are located pretty close to the junction in Vazhakkala, so there is always a lot of traffic and people walking by outside our door. It is a loud area, but that is just part of living and working in this corner of Ernakulam. We started this place because we wanted to have a little shop in the neighborhood. We aren't trying to be the biggest restaurant around, just a simple spot where you can grab something to eat. The shop isn't very large at all, and sometimes it gets a bit cramped when several groups come in at the same time. We do what we can to find everyone a seat, even if it is a tight squeeze. The kitchen starts early, and you can usually smell the spices if you are walking toward the temple in the morning. A few local people work here and handle all the cooking and cleaning. It is not a polished setup by any means. We use the same recipes we have had since the day we opened the doors. Sometimes we run out of things toward the end of the evening, which is annoying for the customers, but we just try to guess how much to cook each day. Life in Kakkanad moves pretty fast, and we just try to keep up. Most of our regulars live nearby or work in the small shops around the junction.
