Rainbow High School

Rainbow High School sits along the Panighata Road. If you know Siliguri, you know how the weather can get sometimes, especially when the rains start coming down hard. Our school building is a familiar sight for people living around Panighata. We have kids coming in from all the nearby houses, some walking and some on bicycles. The morning assembly is usually the quietest time of the day, which doesn't last very long. Once the classes start, you can hear teachers talking and the scrape of chairs on the floor. We have a playground that gets a bit muddy during the monsoon, but the students don't seem to mind it much. They just want to run around. Our staff room is always full of stacks of notebooks that need marking. It feels like the work never really ends, but that is just the way it goes here. We have a few trees in the yard that provide some nice shade during the hotter months. It is not a huge campus with big fancy gates, just a regular place where we focus on the books and making sure the children understand their math and science. People around here know us as a quiet spot in the neighborhood. We try to keep the benches repaired and the walls painted every few years when we find the time. It is a simple life at the school, and we are quite busy with the daily schedule here in Siliguri.
