Smart Indian English Medium School

Our school, Smart Indian English Medium School, is based in Pithrody Village, over in the Udyavara area of Udupi. It is a quiet spot, away from the main city buzz. We have a modest setup here. It’s not one of those huge schools you see in the magazines. It’s just a place for the village kids to come and get their education in English. The building is surrounded by a bit of greenery, which is nice when it’s not raining too hard. When the monsoon hits Udupi, we have to make sure the kids stay dry, which can be a bit of a task. The classrooms are filled with simple desks and the walls have some student drawings on them. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment, but we make do with what we have. Most of the families around Pithrody know us well. They drop their kids off and we see them again in the evening. It’s a very local feel. The teachers are part of the community too. We spend our days going through the curriculum and making sure everyone is keeping up. It is a lot of work, and some days are harder than others, but it is a good way to spend the time. We are just a regular school in a quiet village. We spend time talking to parents about small things, like forgotten lunch boxes or uniform issues.
