Kulur High School

Down in Kulur, Mangalore, our high school has been a fixture for a long time. We are located in a spot where you can sometimes catch a breeze from the water, which helps with the humidity. The school building is a sturdy one, built to last against the heavy monsoon rains that we get every year. We have a good number of students who come from the local neighborhood. The mornings are always a bit chaotic with students arriving on foot or being dropped off. We have a simple routine: assembly, classes, a lunch break, and then more classes until the afternoon. The classrooms are basic with rows of desks and large windows to let in the light. Our staff room is usually a mess of textbooks and tea cups. We don't have a lot of modern luxuries here. We still rely on the school bell being rung by hand to signal the end of a period. The students are generally well-behaved, though like kids anywhere, they can get a bit restless on Friday afternoons. We have a small playground where they can play during their break. It’s not a fancy private institution with a huge gate; it’s just a local high school. We do our best with the resources we have. Kulur High School is a place where we just focus on the basics and try to help the kids move forward.
