Al Furqan Islamic English Medium School

Al Furqan Islamic English Medium School is tucked away in the Mithabail area of Puthige, over in Moodbidri. It is a bit of a trek from the main Mangalore city, which makes it a quieter place for the children. The school building is simple and sits on a plot of land where we have enough room for the kids to run around during their breaks. We teach in English, but you will hear a lot of the local language being used by the staff and students when they are just talking. The classrooms are basic, with the necessary desks and boards for the lessons. Mangalore gets a lot of heavy rain, so we spend a good part of the year making sure everything stays dry inside. We do not have any big corporate backing or fancy facilities like you might find in a city center. It is just a local school serving the families in the Mithabail area. The teachers are mostly from the surrounding towns and they know the families quite well. We have a regular routine that starts with the morning assembly and follows the usual subjects throughout the day. The office is just a small room where we keep the registers and the student files. It is honest, quiet work and we just take things one day at a time. Everyone knows where we are if they need to ask about admissions or books.
