About Bhuvana Jyothi Residential School – Education in Dakshina Kannada
Bhuvana Jyothi Residential School is tucked away in Shirthady, over in the Dakshina Kannada region. If you know the area, it's near the Abhinandan spot. Being in this part of Karnataka, we deal with a lot of rain for several months of the year. The school building usually has some moss on the walls because of the humidity, and we are constantly trying to keep things dry inside. It’s a residential place, so we have kids living here full-time. The atmosphere is pretty quiet compared to the schools in the big cities. We have a lot of greenery around us, which is nice, but it also means we have to watch out for insects and snakes sometimes. The staff stays busy with the kids from early morning until they go to bed in the hostel. Our desks and chairs are just the basic wooden ones, and the floors are plain cement. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that hum all day long. The road to Shirthady can be a bit bumpy, but the school bus makes the trip every day without too much trouble. We focus on the daily chores, like checking the pantry supplies and making sure the kids have done their homework. It’s just a regular life here at Bhuvana Jyothi, with the rain falling on the roof and the sound of the bell every forty-five minutes.
