About Markaz School – Education in Dakshina Kannada
Located right by Rakshita Dry Fruits in Karkala, our school is pretty easy to find if you know the Udupi area. Markaz School sits in a spot where there is always something going on outside. We have kids coming in from all around the local streets, some walking and some being dropped off by their parents on their way to work. Inside, it’s a typical school setup with the smell of old paper and chalk. The building has its quirks, like that one door that always squeaks when you open it. We don't have a huge campus with fountains, but we have enough room for the kids to sit and study their books. The teachers are usually busy marking papers or talking to students who need a bit of extra help with their reading. On the weekends, it’s strangely quiet here, but come Monday morning, the whole place wakes up again. We have a mix of ages and backgrounds, and everyone just blends in. Most of the furniture is made of wood and has been around for quite some time. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the children understand what they’re being taught. It’s a practical place, rooted in the community here. You might hear the traffic from the road, but the kids are usually too focused on their exams or their friends to notice much of it. It’s just how things are at our school in Karkala for now.
