Anjuman English Medium School

Anjuman English Medium School is down on Jumma Masjid Road in Mukka, which is part of the Mangalore area. Since we are so close to the coast, the air is always a bit salty and the humidity can be quite high, especially during the monsoon months. The school is located right by the road, so it is easy to find if you are heading toward the masjid. It is a sturdy building, though the dampness from the Mangalore rain means we are constantly having to touch up the walls. We teach in English here, but the atmosphere is very much local. You will hear a mix of languages in the staff room and out in the yard. The kids from the Mukka area are energetic, and the hallways are never really quiet until well after the final bell. We don't have a big marketing budget or glossy flyers to hand out to people. We just rely on the fact that we have been part of this community for a long time. The classrooms are basic, with old fans that creek a bit when they are on full speed. We have a small area for the kids to play, though it gets quite muddy when it rains. It is a practical school where we just get on with the job of teaching and making sure the day-to-day stuff gets handled properly for the families in the 574146 area.
