Hira Girls High School

Our school is located at No.1060 on University Road, specifically in the Babbukatte area of Hira Nagar. It’s a busy spot in Thokottu, and we’ve been here in Mangalore for many years. Hira Girls High School is dedicated to the girls in this neighborhood. The building is a big part of the local landscape, and you can see it easily from the road. Inside, there’s always a lot of movement. We have stairs that are a bit worn down from years of students walking up and down them. The classrooms have big windows to let in the air because it gets quite humid here near the coast. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that, just the ceiling fans that spin all day. The teachers are mostly local women who have been part of the school community for a long time. They handle the students with a lot of common sense and patience. We don't have a big glossy website or a PR person. If you want to know about us, you usually just ask someone who lives on University Road. We keep our records in old binders and our desks are the old wooden kind. It’s a plain, honest place where we just focus on the lessons and making sure the girls are prepared for their exams.
