Vistara Architects

Vistara Architects is based at No P-1 1322, on the 18th Main Road in Anna Nagar West. If you’ve been around Anna Nagar, you know how busy this stretch can get. Our office is right in the middle of all that activity. We’ve got a small space on the floor where we keep our computers and a long table for looking at prints. It’s usually a bit of a mess with coffee mugs and half-eaten biscuits scattered around. We do a lot of residential work for people right here in the neighborhood. It’s a lot of listening to what someone wants and then trying to explain why their budget might not cover it. We don't use big words or try to act like we’re artists. We’re just building designers trying to make sure the walls are straight and the roof doesn't leak. The light in this office is pretty good in the morning, which helps when we’re doing detailed drawing work. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud we have to shut the windows, but then it gets too hot. It’s a balancing act. We have some young guys helping out who are much faster on the computer than I am. I still prefer my old scale ruler and a sharp pencil. We take projects as they come and try to finish them before the next rainy season starts. Sometimes we actually succeed in that, which is always a good feeling.
