You can find us at Door No 6 on 2nd Street in Alwarpet. It’s tucked away in the Venus Colony area, right across from the Appavoo Apartment. If you’re looking for a landmark, the Udhi Eye Hospital is just a short distance from our front door. Alwarpet is one of those Chennai neighborhoods that always feels like it’s moving, even on the side streets. Our office is a busy place, mostly because there’s always a deadline or a new set of plans to look over. The desks are usually messy, piled with samples of materials and sketches that we’ve been working on. We don’t have a fancy corporate lobby or anyone in a suit waiting to greet you. Usually, it’s just one of us looking up from a computer or a drawing board. The humidity in Chennai means the fans are always on high, and there’s a constant hum in the background. We spend a lot of our day dealing with the practical side of building things, which involves a lot of phone calls and checking on supplies. It’s a small team, and we’ve gotten used to each other’s habits, like who takes the last of the water or who leaves their pens everywhere. Being in this part of town is handy, even if parking on 2nd Street is a bit of a nightmare sometimes. We’ve been here long enough that the local shops know us and our daily rhythms.
