Variety Book Stall

Variety Book Stall is situated at 48 Church Street, right next to the K C Dass shop on St Marks Road. This area is always full of life and people walking around. We’ve seen the neighborhood change so much over the years. Our shop is small, but we try to live up to the name by having different things on the shelves. It’s mostly books, but you can find other bits and pieces too. We don't have a polished look. The shelves are wooden and a bit worn down at the edges. There’s usually a pile of newspapers or magazines near the entrance. People pop in while they’re waiting for their friends or after getting a snack next door. It’s a good spot for people watching. We don't do any big advertising. We just put the stands out every morning and pull them back in at night. The staff here is just a couple of us who have been around for a long time. We know the regulars by their first names. It gets busy on the weekends when Church Street is packed with shoppers. We just keep our heads down and help whoever walks in. It’s a simple business. We don't try to compete with the big stores. We just provide a place where you can find something interesting to read without any fuss.
