Prakash Book Centre

Prakash Book Centre is tucked away in the C Wing at 681/2 Fatima Nagar, over in B S K 2nd Stage. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but people find us. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack things high. I worry sometimes about the piles falling over, but so far they’ve stayed put. We carry mostly educational stuff, but there’s a shelf of stories in the back too. The floor is a bit uneven in one corner, so the shelf there leans slightly. It’s been like that since we moved in. We don't have any staff besides myself and my nephew. He’s good with the customers. We spend a lot of time writing out receipts by hand. It feels more personal that way, I think. The lighting could be better, especially on cloudy days. We try to keep the windows clean so the natural light helps out. There’s a tea shop nearby, and the smell of ginger tea usually wafts in during the afternoon. It’s a nice place to work. We don't have any fancy signs or neon lights. Just a board with the name on it. If you're looking for a specific textbook, we might have it tucked away somewhere. You just have to ask. We’re here most days from morning until late. We just open up and wait for the regulars to stop by for their books. It's a quiet existence but it suits us well.
