Universal Book Store

We’ve been here at Avenue Road for quite a while now. You can find us right across from the Ganesh Prasad Hotel on Dr Batliwala Road. The shop is usually pretty full of stacks, so you might have to look around a bit to find exactly what you're after. We mostly just keep things moving, getting new stock in and clearing out the old stuff. It’s a busy spot. People come in looking for all sorts of things, maybe a specific textbook or just something to read on the bus. We don't really have a fancy system for organizing everything. Sometimes it takes a minute to find a title, but that's just how it goes here. The shelves are getting a bit crowded lately. We try to keep the door open when the weather is nice, though the street noise gets loud sometimes. It’s just me and a couple of others helping out most days. If you're walking past the hotel, you'll see our sign. We keep the lights on until late evening usually. It's a small place but we manage to fit a lot in. Not much to look at from the outside, but the books are what matter. We spend a lot of time dusting and moving boxes around. It’s decent work. Sometimes people stay and chat for a while about what they're reading. We don't mind that. Just a regular bookshop doing its thing in this part of town. Universal Book Store keeps us busy and the bills paid.
