The Standard Literature Co Pvt Ltd is located on the first floor of Bharath Bhavan, which is tucked away just off Infantry Road in Shivaji Nagar. The office is usually filled with papers and books piled up on the desks. We do a lot of our work from here, dealing with different types of literature and getting things sorted for customers. Sometimes the floorboards creak when you walk around. We don’t have fancy carpets or modern furniture. It’s mostly just wooden shelves and old desks that have been here as long as we have. We spend our days answering the phone and checking what’s in the back room. It’s a steady kind of life. People who come to visit usually know exactly what they’re looking for. We don’t spend much time on decorations. It’s a practical space for people who deal with books every day. The light from the windows is good in the morning, which helps when we're reading the small print on invoices. We stay here until the work is done, which is usually around six.
