The Book World

You can find The Book World over at A-10 on Kempa Gowda Road. We are right opposite Sagar Theatre. It’s a landmark everyone knows around here. Being near the theater means there’s always people walking by. Some stop in while waiting for a movie to start. We have been here for years. The shop isn't huge but we cram in as many books as possible. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling. Sometimes you need a stool to reach the top ones. It gets a bit dark in the back corners. We keep a mix of everything. It’s not just one kind of book. People ask for things we’ve never heard of sometimes. We just try to help them find what they want. Kempa Gowda Road is always moving. The traffic never seems to stop. Even inside, you can hear the buses and the horns. It’s a lively part of town. We don't do anything special, just sell books and talk to whoever walks in. Sometimes the regulars stay for a chat. We have some old chairs that aren't very comfortable but people sit anyway. It’s a bit dusty because of the main road outside. We clean up when we can. It’s a simple business. We like the smell of paper and the way the shop feels when it’s full of people. We just stay here doing our thing day after day in this corner of the city.
