The Book Bay

The Book Bay is over at 36 Solapur Road in Vivek Nagar. It is a small street and not as busy as the main roads, which is nice for us. The shop is a simple one-room setup with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We have been here for a while and most of the people who come in are from the surrounding houses in Vivek Nagar. We don't have a huge sign or anything fancy to draw people in. Usually, people just know we are here. Inside, it can get a little bit dark in the corners, so we have a few old lamps scattered around to help people see the titles on the lower shelves. We try to keep things organized by subject, but things often get mixed up when we are busy. There is a small desk at the front where we sit and handle the books that come in and out. Solapur Road can be a bit quiet in the afternoons, but it picks up in the evening when everyone is getting back from work. We don't have air conditioning, so we just keep the fan running and the door open to the street. It’s a very plain environment without any bells and whistles. We spend our time checking through the books we get and talking to the regulars about what they are reading. It’s a steady way to spend the day in a neighborhood that we know really well.
