Strand Book Stall

If you go to the Manipal Center on Kamaraja Road, you will find us at Strand Book Stall. We are up on the first floor, specifically at units 113 and 114. It’s a pretty big space but we have so many books that it still feels a bit cramped sometimes. The building is right near Jigani Link Road too. We spend a lot of time unpacking boxes and trying to find room on the shelves for everything new that arrives. It’s not just one type of book either, we have all sorts of things. Some days it is quiet and you can hear the traffic outside on Kamaraja Road, and other days the shop is full of people browsing. The dust gets on everything if we don't keep up with the cleaning every single morning. We’ve been here at the Manipal Center for a good while now. It’s a landmark for many people in this part of town. Sometimes people get lost looking for the first floor stairs, but once they find 113 or 114, they usually stay for an hour or two. We don't have fancy displays or those bright lights you see in malls. It’s just rows of books and some old chairs for people to sit on. We usually have some music playing softly in the background while we work. It is a nice way to spend the day, surrounded by paper and ink. Most of our regulars know us by name now and just walk in.
