Sri Venkteshwara Book Stall

If you are waiting for a bus at Mariyappanapalya, you’ve probably seen us. We are right opposite the bus stand on MKK Road in Rajajinagar. The stall is numbered B-2940. It’s not a very big space, but we manage to fit a lot of stuff onto the racks. We start early in the morning, around the time the first buses start running. You’ll see newspapers piled up and magazines hanging from clips. We get a lot of commuters who just want something to read for their journey or students looking for a specific guide book. The rain can be a bit of a problem because we have to hurry to cover everything with plastic sheets. MKK Road is always loud with horns and engines, so you have to speak up when you’re asking for something. We’ve got a small radio that plays in the background. It’s just one of those places where people stop for a minute and then move on. We know a lot of the regulars by face, even if we don't know their names. Sometimes we run out of change, so we have to ask the neighbor shop for help. It’s a busy little corner. We don't have much room to sit, so we’re on our feet most of the day. It keeps us busy and part of the daily Rajajinagar rush. The tea seller next door usually brings us a cup around ten o'clock.
