Sri Manjunatha Book Stall

This is Sri Manjunatha Book Stall, and you’ll find us right on the 100 Feet Inner Ring Road in Bannerghatta. It’s more of a stall than a full-sized building, so we’re pretty much out in the elements. When it rains, we have to scramble to pull down the plastic sheets to keep the magazines and papers from getting soaked. The wind sometimes blows things around, but we’ve got some heavy rocks to hold the stacks down. It’s a very noisy spot because of all the buses and cars rushing past on the Ring Road. We get a lot of commuters who stop for a quick minute to grab a newspaper or a pen before they hop back on their bikes. We don't have much room for anything other than the basics. There’s a small bench behind the counter where I sit, and a radio that mostly plays local stations. It’s a busy life, watching the world go by from this little corner. We see the same people every morning, and you start to learn their routines. Some days are slow, especially when it’s too hot, but we just stay open until the sun goes down. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’ve been at this spot for quite some time now. We don't have fancy shelves, just some wooden planks we put together ourselves. It’s enough for what we do and the people who stop by.
