Shruti Book Centre

Shruti Book Centre is at 63 on 11th Cross in Vyalikaval. We are right near the Muneshwara Temple, so the area is usually quite lively with people coming for prayers. Our shop is a modest space. It’s been our family’s livelihood for quite a while. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves from floor to ceiling. We don’t have much room for anything else. The floors are stone and stay cool even when it’s hot outside. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. People know us because we’ve been here on this corner for so long. We get a lot of people who stop in after visiting the temple. They might want a small book or some paper. We also stock things that students need for their exams. It’s a lot of work to keep everything dusted because the street gets quite a bit of traffic. We spend our mornings sorting through new arrivals and checking what’s sold. It’s a very manual process. There are no computers here, just a ledger and some pens. We like the personal touch of talking to everyone who comes in. You hear a lot of stories from the people in Vyalikaval. We aren't trying to expand or become a big chain. We just like being part of the community here. It’s a comfortable place for us and we hope it stays that way.
