Shekar Book Manufacturers

The workshop is over at 189 Ejipura Road. It’s right in the middle of Viveknagar Cottonpet, which is a pretty crowded spot to be in most of the time. We’ve got the heavy machines running most of the day, so there is always this humming sound and the smell of fresh ink and glue in the air. We make all sorts of books here, from simple notebooks for students to thicker bound ones for offices. The tables are usually covered in paper scraps and half-finished covers. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just how it goes in this part of town. We’ve been here quite a long time now. Most of the staff live close by, so they just walk or take a cycle to work. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. People just come to the side door to ask about orders or drop off materials. The floor is concrete and stained with ink, and we have one old fan that makes a lot of noise. It’s a practical space for making things. We focus on getting the binding tight and the pages cut straight. It’s a lot of manual labor and repetitive tasks, but we like the finished product. Usually, we are busy finishing up orders for local schools or small shops nearby. It is a bit loud and messy, but it is our daily life.
