Sbl Book Centre

Sbl Book Centre is over on 50 Feet Road in Hanumantanagar. It’s a big road in Banashankari so there is always a lot of traffic passing by. We are at number 173/37. The shop has a wide front so you can see all the books from the sidewalk. We have a lot of school and college books because there are so many students living around here. During exam season it gets really crowded in here. People are pushing and asking for guides and notebooks. We try to keep up but sometimes we run out of space on the counter. The shelves are quite tall and we use a plastic stool to reach the higher ones. We’ve been here for a while and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. There is a tea stall nearby so the smell of chai often drifts into the shop. We sit on small stools behind the counter. It’s a bit cramped when two of us are working at the same time. We have a lot of regular customers who come for their daily newspapers too. It’s a busy life on this road. Sometimes we just stand at the door to watch the cars go by when things are slow. We don't have a computer system, so we just write everything down in a big ledger book we keep under the desk.
