Sankars - The Book People Pvt Limited

Our place is at 15/2 St Marks Road, and we are right near St Joseph High School. It is a great spot because of all the energy from the school and the surrounding offices. We call ourselves Sankars - The Book People Pvt Limited, and that is exactly what we are. We spend our days surrounded by books of all kinds. Being on St Marks Road means we get a lot of walkers dropping in, maybe parents waiting for their kids or people on their lunch break. The shop isn't some high-tech modern space. It has got a bit of a worn-in feel, which we think makes it more comfortable for people to browse. We have stacks of books everywhere, and sometimes it feels like we are running out of room, but we always find a way to fit more in. The people who work here really know their way around the stacks. We do not go in for big sales pitches or loud music. It is usually pretty quiet inside, except for the sound of pages turning or someone asking a question about a title. We have been part of this neighborhood for a long time now. We have seen kids grow up and come back as adults to buy books for their own children. It is a nice feeling to be part of the community like that. We just keep opening the doors every morning and doing our best to keep the shelves interesting for whoever walks in. It is simple work, but we enjoy it.
