Sai Ram Book Paradise

Gandhi Bazaar is one of those places that still feels like old Bangalore. Sai Ram Book Paradise is right in the middle of it. We are in the Venkatadri Arcade at number 26. Our shop is situated between Vidyarthi Bhavan and Roti Ghar on the Main Road. Those are two very famous eating places, so we get a lot of people passing by our door after their meals. The arcade is an interesting place with all sorts of small businesses. Basavanagudi has a lot of history, and you can feel it when you walk down the main road under the trees. We keep a lot of different books on our shelves. It is a bit of a squeeze to get around the racks sometimes. We have a glass counter where we keep the more expensive items and some stationery. The floor is old mosaic tile that we scrub every morning. We don't have a big staff, just us. We know many of the customers by name because they have lived in Basavanagudi for decades. It is a friendly place to work. Sometimes the smell of masala dosa from next door wafts into the shop. We just sit at the front and watch the world go by. It is a good way to spend the day, surrounded by books and the local bustle.
