Sahitya Loka Book House

Our place is Sahitya Loka Book House and you can find us at 745, right near the old police station bus stop on 1st Main. Being in Bhuvaneshwari Nagar in Rajajinagar means there is always a lot of activity outside. People are always standing at the bus stop, looking at their phones or checking the time. Some of them wander into the shop just to get out of the sun or wait for their bus to arrive. We have rows and rows of books, mostly in the local language, but some other things too. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling so we have a small wooden ladder we use to reach the top. It is a bit wobbly so you have to be careful. The lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for reading the titles on the spines. We have a small desk near the front where we sit and keep track of things. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we first started, with more buildings going up, but the bus stop is still the same landmark. We don't do anything special to attract people. They just see the books through the window and come in. It is a quiet kind of work, even with the buses rumbling past the door every few minutes. We just keep the books organized as best as we can and talk to whoever comes through the door looking for something new to read.
