S R S Book Centre

If you have ever walked down Avenue Road, you know how crowded and narrow the street can feel with all the carts and people moving about. S R S Book Centre is situated at number 71 in the Sree Kalyan Building. We are right across from Kanthraj and Sons, which is a good landmark if you are trying to find us for the first time. The shop is filled with stacks of books that go all the way up to the ceiling in some places. It is not the most organized looking place, but we usually know where everything is tucked away. We spend a lot of our time moving boxes around or helping students find the specific titles they need for their classes. Being on Avenue Road means there is never a quiet moment. There is always the sound of horns and people shouting prices outside our door. The light in the building is a bit dim, but it stays cooler than being out on the pavement. We have been selling books here for a long time and the shelves are a bit worn out now. We don't really have a fancy display window. We just put some of the newer arrivals on a small table near the front. Most of our day is spent dusting the covers and talking to people who wander in from the heat. It is a simple business and we just keep at it every day.
