Ran Books Stall

Ran Books Stall is located at No. 1811 on 12th Main, 34th Cross in Banashankari 2nd Stage. It’s a busy corner of Bangalore, and we’ve been part of the scenery here for a long time. The stall itself is a bit small, so we have to be clever about how we stack the magazines and newspapers. If it’s a windy day, we spend half our time chasing papers down the street, which is just part of the job I suppose. We get a lot of people stopping by on their way to the bus stop or heading home after work. It’s a lot of the same faces every day, which is nice because we know who likes which magazine without them even asking. The shelves are made of old metal and they creak a bit when you pull out a heavy book. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that, just a small table fan that hums all afternoon. Sometimes the street noise gets a bit much, but you get used to the sounds of the scooters and people talking. We keep a stash of umbrellas behind the counter for when the Bangalore weather decides to turn suddenly. There’s no big corporate vibe here, just us selling books and chatting with the neighbors. We record our daily sales in a thick red diary and hope the math adds up at the end of the month.
