Ramesh Book House

Our shop, Ramesh Book House, is right on Avenue Road at number 44/1. Most people find us by looking for Adigas Hotel because we are directly opposite to it. It’s a good landmark since almost everyone knows where to eat around here. The street is always full of people, bikes, and carts moving around. We have a lot of books crammed into this space. It’s not a big fancy showroom. We have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling and sometimes we need a ladder to reach the top ones. We spend a lot of time dusting the covers and rearranging the sections. It feels like the work never ends because new stuff comes in every week. People walk in and ask for things we haven't thought about in years, and we have to go digging through the back. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. We just keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze. Usually, it’s just us here working through the lists and helping customers who wander in from the main road. The sidewalk stays busy, so there’s always noise outside. We like being near the hotel because we can grab a quick coffee when things get quiet. It’s a steady kind of life here at the book house.
